Now the day has finally arrived, I will be leaving for San Diego today to start the PCT. I have been looking forward to this day for so long. The journey to San Diego takes me over Iceland and Seattle before I finally arrive on San Diego late tonight local time. Total flight time is planned at 13 hours and 33 minutes excluding 3 hours and 40 minutes of layover.

I will then have 5 nights and 4 whole days in San Diego to make final preparations for the hike. The first 3 nights I will be staying at a hotel and for the last 2 nights I will be staying with Trail Angels who also provide transportation to the southern terminus. I do not expect preparations to actually take the entire period especially since I do not plan to send out a lot of resupply boxes. The period will hopefully allow me ample time to acclimatize to the weather and time zone. If I have any extra time I am eyeing the USS Midway museum which sound awesome.

The last few days have been quite hectic with packing and read fretting over the last details. Now there is not much to do but hope that my limited planning is alright and that I have brought the right gear. I am sure it will be alright and that I will be able to find solutions to any possible obstacles I might encounter.

Good hiking conditions on my final training hike in Denmark

Yesterday I finished my final training hike and hope that the training I have done will make the beginning of my hike easier. Since the beginning of the year I have kept up with my running of around 35 miles a week. In March I also stepped up my hiking training to around the same weekly mileage as my running, all in all in March I ran 124 miles and hiked 132 miles.

I start the hike om march 31st and I am so excited, but at the same time keenly aware that the hike will probably be one of the most difficult things I have ever done. Overall I expect it will be the experience of a lifetime.
